The paper is concerned with the problem of imbalance in supply chain relations in the forming of a sustainable supply chain. Analysis of the purchaser-supplier relationship is conducted with the use of the case study method. It shows that the presence of an advantage enforces compliance with the requirements of sustainable development. The objectives and initiatives of SD are determined in an arbitrary way, but their costs and risks are transferred to suppliers. From a management perspective, the paper contributes to a better understanding of the influence of imbalance on implementing sustainable [email protected]ł Ekonomiczny, Uniwersytet Marii Curie-SkłodowskiejAlvarez G., Pilbeam C., Wilding R., 2010, Nestle Nespresso AAA sustainable quality program: An investigation into the governance dynamics in a multi-stakeholder supply chain network, “Supply Chain Management: An International Journal”, 15 (2).Andersen M., Skjoett-Larsen T., 2009, Corporate social responsibility in global supply chains, “Supply Chain Management: An International Journal”, 14 (2).Barratt M., Choi T. Liturgical function and Gregorian chant in the music of Paulus Bucenus

    Get PDF
Paulus Bucenus after studies in Greifswald and few years spent in Toruń moved to Riga where he was the school cantor till the end of his life in 1586. He composed almost exclusively sacred music. His Passio Domini nostri Jesu Christi was published in Szczecin in 1578 and 155 other compositions are preserved in the uncomplete manuscript prepared by him in Riga (D-B 40074). Among his works there are masses, motets, hymns, responsories, magnificats. Chant melodies are clearly recognizable in a number of compositions. In hymns they are often used in long values in discantus. In the Passio and some motets quasi-reciting tone is evident. Sometimes chant melodies used in very long values contrast with other voices ornamentally structured

Stockholm manuscript S 230 and its Prussian context

The manuscript S 230, held in the National Library of Sweden in Stockholm, has not been thoroughly investigated until now. The only extant partbook of the source contains thirty two works, comprising motets and German songs. Only four of them bear the composers’ names: Orlande de Lassus, Franciscus de Rivulo, Johannes de Vienna and Joachim a Burck. Among the composers of anonymous works to have been identified are Jacob Bultel, Jacobus Clemens non Papa, Arnold Feys, Nicolas Gombert, Josquin des Prez and Jacob Meiland, as well as Lassus and Rivulo. At least two works are unique to this source: Rivulo’s A Domino egressa est res ista and Vienna’s Wohl dem, der den Herrenfiirchtet. The text of Rivulo’s motet is taken from the non-Vulgate version of the Book of Genesis, and the only other composer to write music to these words was Johannes Wanning, who succeeded Rivulo as magister chori musici at the Marian church in Gdańsk in 1569, five years after the latter’s death. Johannes de Vienna was composer at the Königsberg court in 1564-1568 and 1571 1576. The work from the Stockholm manuscript is his only extant composition. Two motets from the Swedish collection also appear in the Prussian manuscript J 40 24-28, held in the Copernican Library in Toruń: the anonymous Non est bonum and Rivulo’s Nuptiaefactae sunt

The utility of polygraph examinations in treatment and supervision of sex offenders

    Get PDF
W artykule przedstawiono przykłady praktycznego wykorzystania poligrafu w Stanach Zjednoczonych i Wielkiej Brytanii. The article presents contemporary capabilities and usefulness of polygraph instrument in therapy and supervision of the specific group of criminals who committed sex offenses, then were convicted and put on probation. There are four main types of sex offenders polygraph testing: specific issue testing, sexual history disclosure, maintenance and monitoring examinations. It is scientifically proved that polygraph examinations improve the protection of victims and the prevention of future victimization. Sex offenders make more disclosures regarding their sexual history and also their future behaviour is more predictable between periodic examinations. Examples of researches and practical usage of polygraph in the United States and Great Britain were provided. Applying this method results in better risk management and reduces recidivism. The author therefore encourages to make some legislative changes in Polish penal code so that polygraph procedures in sex offenders supervision could be widely implemented in Poland
